Kristin Dowell
Assistant Professor, University of Oklahoma, MyAnthroLab
Kristin Dowell is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma. She is a visual anthropologist who works with urban Aboriginal filmmakers, artists and activists in Vancouver, British Columbia. In her research she examines the innovative ways indigenous filmmakers reclaim the screen for purposes of cultural documentation, language preservation, and digital storytelling. She received her Ph.D. in anthropology from New York University in 2006 and taught at Western Kentucky University in the Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology for two years prior to joining the faculty in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma in 2008.
